Be The Best - 1 Chronicles 18:1
1 Chronicles 18:1 – In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its surrounding villages from the control of the Philistines. David ALSO defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to him and brought tribute. MOREOVER, David fought Hadadezer king of Zobah, as far as Hamath, when he went to establish his control along the Euphrates River. THE LORD GAVE DAVID VICTORY EVERYWHERE HE WENT.
“Do your best and excel in all you do”…..
Are they the words you speak to yourself?
Maybe they are word’s spoken from a parent to a child or could they be words from the very mouth of God to you?
You see I believe God is a God that likes things done well; actually I would be as bold to say excellently.
Look at God for example. When God started creating this little earth for us at the beginning of time. It says in Genesis that he stopped and looked at everything he made.
Did you catch that…..
He looked at EVERYTHING…
And it says that God thought that everything he had made was very good.
VERY GOOD
And I can’t stop thinking today as I read about David and all his victories that he was the best at what he did; because everything he did was done with excellence…
Do you want to be the best?
I’m not talking about competing; I am talking about being the best in all that God has called you to be here and now. God’s keenness for you to be the best isn’t for down the track it is for now!
If you are asking… like me…. How do I work towards that, it seems almost impossible?
Firstly it comes down to your attitude. David was good at what he did, but he knew who gave him his victories… he knew where his help came from….it was the Lord who gave him victory everywhere he went. Taking your eyes of yourself and directing them to the Lord is a very important step when becoming better in whom you are and what you do.
Where does your strength come from?
Your strength comes from the Lord.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me….
Don’t say you can’t become better.. Just say you can!

Hey,
I truly liked those. Being your best was great. It can be hard sometimes to believe in yourself and in God. We just need to stick with him and allow him to make us all we are made to be. He is our strength like you said and through our weaknesses he becomes stronger, so even if we fail the first time, God’s strength will pick us back up and help us to be our best. There’s a saying I saw once- it’s about doing your best and succeeding. “If we plan to fail at a task and we do, are we succeeding or failing that? I think that is really cool as so many young people today think ‘oh I’m not good enough so I’m not even going to try. However they are good enough and just need to say to themselves, ‘I can do this, there is no such things as cannot, it’s just I am not too keen to do that or I’m not as good as I would like to be at it’. We need to always try harder than last time, and challenge ourselves to be more. There is so much of ourselves we don’t know yet and they only way to discover it is to try new things and be better than last time.
